Scratch
There is a new club in town called Scratch. It is a coding club. Coding is really important but you didn’t hear it from me. You heard it from our librarian, Mrs. Stanley! It sounds really weird, but it’s true. She is teaching students how to code using Scratch. Scratch is a programming language and it’s a free website for children ages 8 to 16. Scratch JR. is a website for children 5 to 7. It is used in 150 countries in 40 different languages. You can share your creations with other people.
We interviewed Mrs. Stanley about the coding club Scratch.
Mrs. Stanley: We are making a maze game. You code and it makes a graphic.
Reporter DJ: Is coding educational?
Mrs. Stanley: Yes!

Team Up Challenge
The goal of the club is to better our community and educate students on the importance of safety. The club members plan on encouraging friends and family to participate in a toy drive that they will partner with the SAPD. This event will happen at a Spurs game in December of this school year. At an historical event for Brauchle the team had a really fun night at the barns in the AT&T center were they found out they already won over $2,500. Brauchle’s team up challenge project is to work towards ways they can better our community. The club leaders are Mrs. Espinoza and Miss. Demers. The members are: Justin Trigo, Anyssa Fuentes, Dira Tabares, Reagan Casey Joshua Montalvo

Will the Junior Administrators Run the School ?
We interviewed the junior administrators Alexis Martinez and Tristian Lopez on how it feels to be a junior Principal and Vice Principal. On May 16th both Alexis and Tristian followed Ms. Garza and Mrs. Anguiano around campus as they worked on book character referrals, visited classrooms and helped managed the hallways and more! Miss. Alexis Martinez was acting Vice Principal who is a fourth grader in Mrs. Zapata class and Mr. Tristian Lopez was the acting Principal who is a third grader in Mrs. Braly’s class.
Here is what they said...
BN:How did you two become the junior administrators?
Ms.Martinez: There was a list of people who wanted to be Principal and Vice Principal that was part of a PTA function where only two students were picked.
BN: Do you think you are role models for the school?
Ms.Martinez:Yes, because I listen and that is an important part of being a responsible and respectful student.
Mr.Lopez: I agree with her because I also listen and I think it is important for kids to be heard.
BN: Do you think that being a real Principal and Vice Principal is hard?
Ms.Martinez & Mr. Lopez: Yes, because we're still kids so we don't get the actual work that a Principal and Vice Principal would get.
BN: What would junior administrators do that a Principal and Vice Principal would do?
Ms.Martinez & Mr.Lopez: Lunch duty and checking up on classrooms to make sure they're doing good.
BN: If you had your own school shop what would you sell?
Ms.Martinez:Pencils, Stickers, Little stuffed animals, and Paper Origami
Mr.Lopez: Scented Pencils for the holidays
BN: What would you do in your free time as a Principal and Vice Principal?
Ms.Martinez:Make inspirational posters.
Mr.Lopez: Make copies for the student if they need papers.
BN: If you got to chose a mascot for a school you run what would it be?
Ms.Martinez & Mr.Lopez: An Arctic Fox!
The two junior administrators that we interviewed were lots of fun maybe one day they will run a school together. Would you want to attend a school they would lead?
